The situation inYemenis serious.Thousands of people have died in this conflict. Women have been raped and children forced into Houthi militias. There is famine, torture, detention, kidnapping, and ecological disaster pollutes the country. And yet, the world says nothing. Ecological organizations, women’s associations, International Institutions are largely silent. We ask ourselves, why? The Yemeni are asking themselves too. The global community has stood united, moved and acted, against IS. But with the Houthis there is only silence!!
At the beginning of October, 2020 several Yemeni associations representing civil society, and hostile to the Houthis, met in Geneva with the International Council for Diplomacy and Dialogue in concert with the meeting of the United Nations Human Rights Council. This meeting showed that, while there are differences between Yemeni associations, they are unified in condemning the crimes of theHouthis.
During this meeting a number of subjects were discussed and many testimonies were heard about the atrocities in Yemen. This led the associations present to seek organizational unity in order to protect the Yemeni people against Houthi terror.
The international NGO Council for Diplomacy and Dialogue (www.icdd.info) , which works on conflict resolution, will participate in that endeavor.
